JOIN : Sarge’s Story

What JOIN does:

Veterans make up 12% of the total street population in Multnomah County. Multnomah County is committed to ending Veteran’s Homelessness, and in service to this goal, have established a robust set of partners and resources to meet the needs of our former service men and women who are sleeping on the streets of our community.

JOIN is a key partner in this effort. JOIN will continue to do, as we have always done, engage homeless Veterans and help them transition into permanent stable housing.

Sarge’s Story:

Sarge is an Army National Guard Veteran who retired under honorable circumstances after 20 years of service to his country. Without the structure of the Army, he struggled to live well and became homeless, as so many Vets do.

Sarge was homeless for 20 years when he met one of JOIN’s Outreach Workers and was able to transition back inside.
